The construction of a dam in the upper reaches of the river for drinking water and extend the pipe to the school where it is stored in two tanks. This has assured the water supply in dry periods and reduced the number of diarrheal disease cases and consequently child mortality. The Samburu community settled in the area is the main beneficiary of the project. Women and children have the responsibility for collecting water, so they put the tank next to the school, and the education system has been strengthened. |
