| Description |
Construction of a room with 30 beds at the Pediatric Hospital of Maragua, located in the district of the central province of Kenya's Muranga South. This hospital is the referral center for the district which has a population of 388,260 people, of which there are 53,708 (13.48%) children under 5 years and 11,906 (3.16%) less than one year (2008 data). For children under 5, the mortality rate is over 30% in the hospital, while the outpatients ratio is only 7.5%. The total number of pediatric admissions during 2008 was 624 patients, while the average occupancy of beds was 226%. The maintenance of the pediatric room falls inside the five-year plan of the Ministry of Health, which means that it intends to take charge of the maintenance costs. |
