| Description |
This secluded area lies more than two hours by car on a tortuous dirt road from the hospital nearest to Maralal. A complication in a part or an injury could mean death due to the scarcity of health resources. It was considered timely to purchase an ambulance jeep. Since the Samburu tribe live in communities scattered throughout the mountains, it was essential to have a mobile clinic to transport and treat patients. We also remodeled the clinic at Barsaloi, installing diagnostic ultrasound equipment and a dental chair for dental volunteers who each year come with the Foundation. During 2009 courses have been held on giving diagnostic ultrasound as well as knowledge to improve the early detection of infectious diseases and malaria. So far, it has reduced mortality in parts, has improved health conditions and provided medical care to many sick and wounded. |
